Consensual Event Guide

71% of students at Canadian post-secondary students either witnessed or were subjected to unwanted sexualized behaviours in a post-secondary setting either on campus, off-campus or online. Statistics Canada.

Many sexual assaults that happen on post-secondary campuses occur within the first eight weeks of school, starting with Orientation Week. The Conseunal Events Guide was created to help Student Affairs professionals and Student leaders plan events for incoming students during Orientation Week. It contains tips, resources and ideas for throwing safer events, skills development with the planning team, bystander intervention and post-show community care. Creating a culture of consent on campus to prevent sexual violence is everyone’s responsibility.

18% of sexual assault and 12% of sexual harassment incidents occurred in the fall semester just before classes started. Council of Ontario Universities
